Unchartered Amazon Brazil

16 day Expediton
Dates

Group size: Min 5 - 10 Max
Cost 6995 US$ per person

Every year we carefully select a new isolated river tributary to explore with min 5 and at max 10 like minded adventurers. We will travel by boat (in most cases) from Manaus and after having acclimatized at our Jungle base for 2 nights we will travel about 4 days by boat towards an unchartered area where wildlife can be seen in much greater numbers and where isolated and uncontacted tribes still roam free. While traveling towards our destination we will set up camp along the way which is a whole adventure by itself. On the first day while traveling initially further away from our base camp we will notice that the boat traffic starts to decrease sharply until by the end of travel day 1 we see perhaps a couple of boats max every hour or so. As we go deeper in to the Amazon we will see less and less people and more and more wildlife.  Once we reach the most isolated area of the expedition we will set up a base camp in the area for 4 days and from there on explore the area, search for wildlife and learn some more advanced survival skills along the way. The goal of this expedition to really go off the map and go in to areas so wild that you can feel it in the air and in your soul. as we finish up we will travel back for 4 days back Manaus while camping along the way.

The expedition location Criteria:

  • Isolated and undiscovered with undisturbed and untouched jungle.

  • Great numbers of wildlife and fish

  • Areas where Indigenous isolated tribes are present (though we will say at a safe distance)

  • Safety comes first when selecting locations.

  • 02 April 2025 - 17 April 2026

  • 02 April 2026 - 17 April 2027

* For private individuals/groups we have availability all year round.

Arrive in Manaus

Fly to Manaus at the heart of the Brazilian Amazon. This is where we meet up at the designated hotel! We will have some time to meet and get to know each other before we travel onwards in to the unknow..

Jungle Base

For the first 2 nights we will camp at our base about 1.5 hours westwards of Manaus by Speedboat to get acclimatized, learn some of the important survival skills.

On to the river

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred boat landing from where will enter the might Rio Negro which is over 20 Kilomters wide..

Discover the unknown

For the next 12 days you will venture into some of the last unchartered areas of the Amazon rainforest. We will travel with several boats until we get into truly unknown waters where the further we go the wilder it will be..

expert expeditionary force

You will be joined by the best of best when it comes to getting as deep in to the Amazon rainforest as possible and being able to survive and live to tell the tale for when you get home!

Our teams mix of indigenous and military knowledge of the Amazon rainforest gives us the best of both world and allows to give the best possible experience.
Lastly many of our team in brasil in the military either led or were part of a special search & rescue operations team for many years.

Off the Map

Traveling by boat we will set up camp daily before darkness falls at the rivers edge just under the jungle canopy. After we reach our destination we will also camp further land inwards and set up a larger base camp from where we will explore this new isolated territory.

These expeditions in to new areas are planned for months into the smallest details to make sure it is feasible and safe.

Wildlife unlike anything you have seen before

The deeper we will travel in to an area the more wildlife we will see to the that we will see more wildlife in one day compared to 2 weeks in the most other jungle areas. Species like Macaws, Toucans, Howler monkeys, King Vultures, Tree  boa's, Black Caiman, Tapir, Capybara, Tarantulas and with some luck Green Anaconda's, Harpy Eagles and perhaps even a jaguar.

Safety

Traveling into areas this isolated does not come without any risks. The Amazon is home to many beautiful but potential dangerous animals as well the possibilities of running in to isolated indigenous tribes when going in to isolated areas.
Our team however is fully prepared have planned for months with will stacked first aid kits, antibiotics, satellite phones, protective gear, supplies, sufficient gasoline, communication with the team at base and authorities in case an airlift is needed, etc.

A once in a life time chance to discover the last isolated frontiers of the Amazon Basin unlike anything out there!

I still remember the first time we traveled deep in to the Amazon Basin for a mission like it was yesterday. I was no stranger to the Amazon and had already been in to quite some off the beaten path places (in Guyana for example). Great places where you would see more then just one or two macaws if you were lucky. Places where you would see a few dozen each day sometimes in groups as large 10 of various different species and at least a couple of toucans on most days.
Nothing would however prepare me that first time for the wildlife we would see when going truly deep in to the Brazilian Amazon traveling almost 900 KM by boat from Manaus. Dozens and dozens of Macaws flocking together up to a 100 strong with groups of Toucans at least a dozen strong. Seeing Giant river otters and monkeys who very obviously never had encountered people before acting unafraid including a very large Anaconda that tried to climb on board at night.

At one point as our boat went around a river bend a giant river otter eating a piranha  on the river bank dropped its meal, jumped into the water and started chasing our boat.
Jeff, our team lead and a lieutenant from the Brazilian army, trained by the best in Jungle warfare and survival who as part of his training lived with the feared Yanomami for almost 2 years said it best in that moment:

"This place, is a wild place"

More than anything this is what our expeditions try to capture, the feeling of total isolation and being in one of the last frontiers of this world. Join us!
